Every woman who comes to Guthrie House deserves the opportunity to heal, reconnect and thrive. We walk alongside women and their children as they rebuild their lives after incarceration

Founded by Sandra Willson, who spent 18 years behind bars for being different in a world that made no space for her, Guthrie House is a place of healing, strength and justice. Today, we continue that legacy by supporting women, particularly First Nations women, through trauma-informed, culturally safe care that breaks cycles of intergenerational harm.

Many of the women we support are mothers. Some live at Guthrie House with their children, continuing to parent while maintaining their decision not to use drugs and building the foundations for a safer, healthier future. Others are working toward reconnection, nurturing relationships with their children and taking steps toward living together as a family again.   Your donation helps make that possible.

You are not just helping one woman. You are walking alongside a family as they build strength, stability, and self-determination often in the face of generations of systemic injustice.

Your gift helps to provide:
• Safe, stable housing during a 12 week residential program
• Counselling, parenting support and life skills
• 12 months of outreach and community connection
• A trauma-informed, culturally safe environment for women and children
